Appointment of Sarah Jane Thomson as a Non-Executive Director

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc has today appointed Sarah Jane Thomson as a Non-Executive Director of the Company and Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

Commenting on the appointment Jeremy Wilson, Chairman of Bloomsbury said, "We are delighted to welcome Sarah Jane Thomson to the Board. She has a wealth of experience to bring to the Board from her career and my fellow Directors and I look forward to working with her in the years to come."

Sarah Jane founded Thomson Intermedia Plc in 1997 (now Ebiquity Plc), a media information business using internet and technology to capture and deliver real-time advertising creatives and expenditure data for businesses. The company was floated on AIM in 2000 and she remains on the Board. In 2006, she founded First News, the weekly newspaper for children which has become the most widely read children's publication in the UK and she continues to be actively involved in driving the business forward. Her other roles include: founder of Priority One, an IT outsourcing business, serving medium size businesses in Central London and joint CEO of Addictive Interactive a newly launching Social Network for brands.  

Her previous roles include: Head of Information at valin Pollen (Public Relations Consultancy) and Sales & Marketing Director at Mintel (Global Consumer, Product and Market Research).

In accordance LR9.6.13R Sarah Jane, as a result of an investment, was a director of a small private babyfood company, Babylicious, for approximately one year until August 2009 when it went into administration. There is no other information required to be disclosed pursuant to LR9.6.13R.

Sarah Jane Thomson's appointment follows a comprehensive search process using the services of an independent search firm. She will stand for election at the Company's next annual general meeting.

The Nomination Committee is employing the same independent search company to help appoint a further Non-Executive Director to replace Michael Mayer who steps down from the Board at the end of the year having completed nine years on the Board.
